Thrive was able to launch the HEC due to a strong coalition of economic development partners locally, regionally, and nationally, who have the same goal of creating jobs and combating poverty through small business entrepreneurship. Working in tandem with The Phillips Community College, The Phillips County Chamber of Commerce, SCORE and Accion Micro-Lending, Thrive has developed a broad-based curriculum and training program that works one-on-one with new and existing entrepreneurs to help them achieve goals and become more competitive. All entrepreneurs are faced with the daunting reality that over half of small businesses fail within their first year. The HEC was created to help new business succeed, and to give support to people with ideas and dreams.
